Description

This is the most essential part of the Focus And Direction phase, because now the true engagement is defined and recorded. The scope definition is leading in times of discussion that may occur during the assignment. These discussions may concern whether some tasks and/or deliverables should or should not be executed, respectively delivered. The scope definition is built on four main topics:

  1. Business Scope of the engagement: Which core processes, products or IT-resources are subject to the engagement? For instance: Sales & Marketing in Europe and North Africa; Process Analysis.
  2. Scope of the Engagement: Which streams from the SEMBA method (Business Context, Business Process, Information, Application Landscape, Requirements Engineering) are involved in the engagement and which are not; What phases will be worked through for each of the streams? Will an As-Is analysis on the Business Processes be performed or not?
  3. Use of reference material: What is done with previously delivered material (by the Client, Capgemini or third parties)? Will it be used as a starting point or just for background information?
  4. Deliverables: What deliverables will be delivered and what is the level of detail that will be captured? Which are key deliverables?
